西方文化视野下的文本解读——评夏志清的《中国现代小说史》

Text Interpretation from the Perspective of Western Culture:On C.T.Hsia's A History of Modern Chinese Fiction

夏志清的《中国现代小说史》在文学史上的意义不言自明,无论是开拓性地研究被大陆文学史疏漏和遮蔽的文学现象,还是对过于政治化的学术框架下形成的既定结论的重新评价,都可以说为学界提供了参照和蓝本。文章主要从西方文化背景入手,考察新批评理论及利维斯的批评方法对该书编写的影响,从而探讨其独特性和价值。当文学的审美性及道德水准成为入史标准和参照体系的时候,夏志清则必须站在一个融贯东西方文化的广阔视野中,实现对中国现代作家、作品的重估和评价。

The C .T .Hsia＇s A History of Modern Chinese Fiction is of great importance ,especially the researches on the shaded literary phenomenon and the reevaluation of the established conclusions can be used as a reference in academic circles .In view of the western cultural background ,this paper ex‐plores the uniqueness and value of the book from the view of New Criticism and Leavis＇theory .When the aesthetic and moral standards become the evaluation criterion of history recording ,a global out‐look integrating eastern and western cultures is needed to revaluate the modern Chinese writers and their works .
