We Are All The Patients——An Analysis of Li Xiaohua's The Patients

李晓桦的《世纪病人》记录了作家的半生阅历,以其朝鲜战场军人后代的特殊视角,融合新锐诗人和成功商人的眼光,讲述了北京大院生活,14岁从军的军旅生涯。80年代文坛的热闹多彩,90年代商场的魔幻,以及2000年后在温哥华做儿子的全职陪读,这半生阅历折射了六十年共和国的风雨历程,而其中个人心史则铺陈了一代知识分子的精神状态。

Li Xiaohua＇s The Patients records the life experiences of the writer,from the specific view of a soldier,fusing the sight of an excellent poet and successful businessman. The novel tells us a story about a man who lived in the grand courtyard in Beijing and joined the army when he was 14 years old. In the1980 s,he wrote poems. In the 1990 s,he made business. After 2000,he went to Vancouver to look after his son who was in a local middle school. The experience of Li Xiaohua is very typical which can reflect the history of our country,and the mental activity can mirror the mental state of intellectuals who were in his generation.
