The transformation and development of local undergraduate universities is the inevitable product of a certain stage of economic development in China. Scholars at home and abroad have already provided theoretical foundation for the transformation, based on the research of higher education and economic growth. In terms of economic development of the present situation and the trend in China, the transformation and development of local undergraduate universities has significant economic value. But some realistic factors are influencing it. Therefore, local undergraduate universities and other strengths should collaborate and take corresponding countermeasures to promote the transformation and development of local undergraduate universities and realize China＇ s economic structure upgraded and its sustainable development.
