Objective To evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of bone decompression needle in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis(KOA).Methods This study included 30 KOA patients who were treated with the bone decompression needle. Before treatment and at one and four weeks after treatment, the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index(WOMAC)was used to assess pain, stiffness, and function of the knee joint. Results These patients had significantly reduced WOMAC scores for pain, stiffness, and function of the knee joint at one week after treatment(P〈0.01),and the three scores were further reduced from one to four weeks after treatment(P〈0.01).None of the 30 patients developed complications during the study period. Conclusion For patients with KOA,the bone decompression needle can relieve the pain and improve the function of knee joint, and it is a safe and effective therapy.
