《史记》问世以来,研究成果颇丰,研究家越来越多。张新科先生作为古代文学研究学者,坚持文学本位,探究《史记》在中国文学史上的地位及其影响,并注重挖掘《史记》的文化价值;把《史记》置于整个传记文学发展历程中以发现其意义。更为重要的是,基于长期的研究基础,建立了"史记学"的基本理论体系,为《史记》研究问题作出了重要贡献。

Since the advent of Historical Records, more and more researchers had studied on it and got manifold achievements. As a scholar of ancient Chinese literature, Professor Zhang insists on the literariness and studies about the importance and influence of Historical Records in Chinese literature, especially its cultural value. He puts it in the process of whole biography literature in or?der to find its significance. And more importantly, Zhang has established the basic theoretical system for Studies on the Historical Re?cords and made an important contribution for it.
