两千多年前的古代中国会不会制造琉璃,曾经是长期争论的一个问题。半个多世纪以来,考古工作者在湖南地下发掘出了大量距今两千多年的中国早期琉璃器,品种非常丰富,有礼器、生活用品、葬器、佩饰等,数以千百计。经过科学检测,这些琉璃器的化学组成,与古代世界各国不同,造型和艺术风格,也有鲜明的中国特色,在世界琉璃史上独树一帜。本文所介绍的,主要是长沙市博物馆藏的战国两汉时期琉璃器。

There are 59 pieces of Coloured glaze wares of the Warring States Period arid the Western Han a Eastern Han Dynasties collected at Changsha Museum. In this paper, according to the type classification , combining historical documents, to introduce study these coloured glaze wares.
