In the second half of the 15th entury, the Wars of the Roses broke out. Margaret of Anjou came upon the historical stage and played a leading role. In order to defend the Lancastrian throne, she struggled desperately against Yorkist, and was defeated. Finally, Margaret of Anjou became the most denounced queen by British historians. Margaret of Anjou's wonderful and suffering destiny reflects the political unrest and intricate causes which the Wars of the Roses resulted from, as well as stubborn Anti-feminism that rooted in traditional political society deeply.
