蒙田笔下“旅行”一词的研究

The Word“Travel”in the Writing of Montaigne

蒙田作为文艺复兴时期法国最有代表性的人文学者,一生多次外出旅行,并留有一本旅行日记《蒙田意大利之旅》。此外,著名的《蒙田随笔全集》中也有不少章节对"旅行"这一主题进行阐释。蒙田笔下的"旅行",层次感异常丰富,除了平时所说的"出发去远方",也暗含"人生旅程"的意思。旅行对蒙田而言,不仅是一种人类的行为,还是存在本身的一种表现。在继承了人文主义思潮所提倡的在旅行中学习新的知识这一目的之外,他还在写作中强调了旅途获得的乐趣,这在十六世纪是非常前卫的思想。而多次外出的阅历使蒙田不仅扩展了自己的视野,培养了真正的判断力,还意识到自己思想的局限性,坦诚自己在面对陌生事物和其他宗教文化时,理解上存在着困惑,但这也正是他最为智慧的一面。

As one of the most famous humanists in the Renaissance, Montaigne traveled a lot during his life. He left us The Journal of Montaigne＇s Travels and some chapters which deal with the topic of travel in the Essays. The word,＂travel＂used by Montaigne has rich and varied significations： on one hand, it means just a trip; on the other hand, this word conveys a metaphorical meaning： the travel of the life. Moreover, for Montaigne,＂travel＂is not only a human action; it represents also a mode of existence. Besides the traditional humanistic purpose of＂travel＂that is to learn new knowledge, he insists on the pleasure of traveling, which appeared quite avant-garde in the 16 th century. Through all his traveling experience, Montaigne not only widens his horizon and forms his judgment, but also realizes limits of his own world views, recognizes difficulties in comprehension of new things, religions and cultures, which shows his wise aspect.
