A Reflection on Some Major Issues in China's Western Frontier Studies

中国西部边疆的一系列问题,都是涉及国家核心利益并为中央高度关切的重大问题。在新的形势下,应以西部边疆安全与发展为主线,围绕反分裂、反暴恐、反极端宗教势力的相关问题,以及周边国家关系、可持续发展、民生保障等重大问题,开展多学科、多单位、跨部门、跨地区的协同研究,逐步形成一批稳藏、安疆、治边、睦邻的智库和高质量成果,为中央相关决策提供有效的智力支持。

Many issues in the Western Frontier concern China’s core interest,and are matters that have drawn much attention of the central government.In the current situation,our researches should focus on the security and development of the Western Frontiers,covering such topics as anti-cession,anti-terrorism,anti-religious extremism matters,establishing good ethnic relationships between China and its western neighboring countries,sustainable development and social security in the Western frontiers.These research tasks are interdisciplinary in nature,and often involve the coordination of different units,different government departments and even different regions.Our goal is to bring out a number of high quality researches,turning our center into a think tank to support the decision making of the central government.
