如果说中国的澄江动物群呈现出寒武纪生命大爆发的高潮,那么加拿大布尔吉斯动物群代表了寒武纪大爆发的又一高峰。它们是寒武纪生命大爆发的双子星座,是现生动物界起源实证最有力的双塔。1980年布尔吉斯页岩被列入世界遗产名录。1984年,以布尔吉斯页岩为核心的加拿大落基山国家公园群被拓展列入世界遗产名录,成为地球远古生命的特使。
While China’s Chengjiang Fauna represents the climax of the Cambrian explosion, Canada’s Burgess Fauna appeared as another peak of this period. These two faunas are considered the twins that provide the strongest evidence of the origin of life. In 1980, the Burgess Shale was inscribed on the World Heritage List. In 1984, the Rocky Mountain National Park, with the Burgess Shale as its core, was proclaimed as a World Heritage site, establishing itself as the envoy of prehistory life on the earth.
