Presupposition and Conceptual Transfer in English Substitution

英语中的替代既不是替代词对被替代的语言表达式的简单重复,也不是替代成分语义对被替代成分语义的直接替换,而是预设驱动下的概念的激活、转移及重释过程。从对预设的认知解读出发,指出替代是在预设驱动下激活理想化结构、提取抽象语义、转移抽象语义,并最终使语义具体化的过程。

Substitution in English does not simply refer to the repetition of the substituted linguistic expression or a direct substitution of the substituted meaning by the substitute, but a process of supposition-driven conceptual activation, transfer and re-definition. This thesis, starting with a cognitive analysis of presupposition, proposes that substitution involves a process of presupposition-driven activation of ICMs, abstraction of abstract meaning, transfer of abstract meaning, and finally the actualization of meaning.
