On the Spirit and the Evolution of Left-wing Literature

20世纪30年代左翼文学对其后几十年中国文学的整体面貌产生了重大而深远的影响,中国现当代文学中的许多重要现象、命题都可以从左翼文学那里找寻到历史印痕。左翼文学精神是反主流意识形态的,它的社会批判意识及其对人们精神层面的关注,使其充满一种浪漫精神和理想主义的独特品格。左翼文学本身也不是一个统一的文学,它具有多样性和复杂性。左翼文学在进入40年代初期以后,其精髓就被逐渐消解,在此后不同历史时期发生的消解或流变对当时的文学都产生过重要影响。

The Left-wing literature of the 1930 s has exerted a significant and far-reaching influence on the overall image of Chinese literature for several decades,for many important phenomena and propositions in contemporary Chinese literature can attribute some historical trace to the Left-wing literature. As the spirit of Left-wing literature is against the mainstream ideology,its social critical consciousness and its concern with the spiritual level of people has resulted in its unique character of romanticism and idealism. Left-wing literature itself is full of diversity and complexity rather than a unified literature. The essence of Left-wing literature has gradually been dispelled since the early 1940s; while its removal or changes in diverse historical periods have also had some important influence on literature of that time.
