The relation between Algeria and France is full of conflicts and tension, and profoundly influenced many French writers. Among them are Albert Camus, Hélène Cixous and Jacques Derrida, who paid tribute in different ways to their homeland. For them, Algeria is not only a real country, but also a metaphor of difference, alterity and aporia. This paper tries to analyze the way in which Algeria deconstructed and renewed their writing, and constituted a space of memory, imagination and fiction.
