Peeping at New York

道格拉斯·塔拉克曾这样形容过纽约：“‘纽约，纽约’意味着纽约的重复性、双重性及其过度的、夸张的特点。纽约是如此特别的城市。以至于仅说一次‘纽约’不足以说明问题。‘纽约’几乎是用来形容纽约的唯一恰当的词。”这大概是有过纽约经验的人都不太会反对的一种解释。

Douglas once described New York as follows, ＂ ＇New York, New represents its repeatability, duality, being York＇ and both excessive and extravagant. New York is such a special city that only one call of New York cannot express it thoroughly. ＇New York＇ is the only term that is proper to describe the city.＂
