摘要
本文借助维基百科语料库、当代美国英语语料库及《牛津》、《韦氏》等权威词典,统计和分析英语中的中国文化名词,发现这些词呈现出两个特点:一是进入英文的中国文化名词,在数量和使用频度上都较低;二是汉语词进入英语的中介语较混乱。在与日语拉丁化方案进行比较后,本文认为,出台一套便于外国人读写的汉语拉丁化规范方案,以及相应的常见中国文化名词英译官方对照表,将有助于大幅提高中国文化“走出去”的效率。
Abstract: The paper gives an analysis on Chinese cultural nouns in English vocabulary, according to the statistics based on Wikipedia, Corpus of Contemporary American English (COCA) , Oxford Learner's Dictionary as well as Merriam-Webster Dictionary. The result shows two features of these Chinese words: (1) A lower quantity and frequency of use; (2) The variety and disorder of media languages for Chinese words entering English vocabulary. After a further comparison with Japanese romanization schemes, the paper suggests that a renovated and standardized romanization scheme of our Chinese language which is supposed to be better accessible for foreign readers, accompanied with an official Sino-English list of common Chinese cultural nouns, will help to increase considerably the efficiency of Chinese culture "going out" strategy
