摘要
An estimated 15,000 women spinners went on strike and participated in a demonstration, during which they demanded shorter working hours and higher salaries, on March 8, 1908. "Bread and Roses" was their slogan. Bread symbolized economic security, while roses symbolized quality of life. Now, more than 100 years later, a group of women -- all blue-collar workers -- in Shenzhen (in southern China's Guangdong Province) are fighting for their rights and interests. "Women share half of the duties within society, society gives haft of the rights to women" is their slogan.
