商务英语信函中被动语态的功能探讨

国际贸易在经济全球化和全球信息化的过程中得到迅猛的发展。作为一种独特的写作体裁,商务英语信函是国际贸易中买卖双方进行交流的重要手段之一。它往往牵涉到买卖双方的权利、义务和利害关系等,所以撰写时要严谨、客观、公正。而被动语态在商务英语信函中的运用刚好遵守了商务信函写作中客观,公正,礼貌等原则,能够传递主动语态无法表达的信息。本文通过分析商务英语信函写作中的实例,来探讨商务英语信函中被动语态的功能。

International trade has developed rapidly during the process of economic globalization and global information. As a unique writing style, business English correspondence is one of the important means in international trade for the buyer and the sellci to communicate with each other. It often involves the rights, duties and interest between the buyer and the seller. So we must be cautious, objective and fair while we are writing. The use of passive voice helps us follow the principles of objectiveness, fairness and politeness in business English letter writing. It can convey some special information while the active voice can not. This paper explores the functions of passive voice used in business letters through the analysis of the examples of passive sentences.
