Referential practice in medical relief the US hospital ship “Mercy”during “RIM Pacific 2014” Exercise

中美医院船首次参加环太平洋军演，美医院船规范化的卫勤演练，标准化战创伤培训与救治，急救分类理念及先进的培训手段是其优势。为增强我医院船海外医学救援能力，应制定多样化海外非战争军事行动医学救援预案，加强卫勤与战创伤救治技术培训手段，科学编组多种类型的救援队伍。

In July to August 2014, the Chinese Navy hospital ship “Peace Ark” and the US hospital ship “Mercy”took part in the“Rim of the Pacific 2014” joint military exercise. The medical officers of Chinese and the US naval forces conducted communication and medical rescue exercises. The practice of the US hospital ship is worth studying and learning. On board the ship , necessary medical instruments and training facilities are well-equipted. Consideration is given to availability, portability, and advanced nature of the medical eqiipments. Through-type triage is implemented, thus attention is paid to emergency treatment more than to triage. Emergency treatment is pracrtised with the rescue and treatment group as a unit that is responsible for the medical rescue in a specific zone. The concept of advanced trauma life support （ATLS） is used as the guideline for rapid rescue. An ATLS certificate has become a must for a physician who wants to be engaged in surgery in more than 30 countries. Standardized procedures for management of common war injuries have been developed and posted up. Different training models simulating the actual cases are widely used and display their helpfullness. It is an effective practice to transfer a small number of qualified physicians to work with medics from different grassroot units.
