U.S.-Latin America Relations Since Obama's Taking Office

奥巴马2009年1月上台后,对美国对拉美的政策进行了调整,提出要建立新"平等伙伴关系",表示要开启与古巴关系的"新开端",力图改善与拉美左派政府的关系,继续把贸易、扫毒、反恐和移民作为美拉关系的重点议题。拉美国家起初对奥巴马改变对拉美的政策寄予希望,然而,很快奥巴马的表现使拉美国家的希望落空。拉美国家认为,奥巴马对拉美政策的所谓改变,仅流于表面,缺乏实质性的内容。

Since his taking office in January 2009,President Obama has adjusted U. S. policy toward Latin America,he promised a New Partnership with Latin America based on equality,he spoke of taking relations between the U. S. and Cuba in a new beginning,he strived to improve U. S. relations with the Leftist governments of Latin America,and he is keeping on the topics of commerce,combating drug trafficking and terrorism,immigration reform as priority of his policy toward the region. At beginning,most Latin American countries expected changes from Obama Administration＇s policy toward the region,but soon they lost his hopes by Obama＇s demonstration. There is a sense of disappointment in much of Latin America at how little of Obama＇s initial promise of change has been realized. Moreover,the essence of U. S. policy toward Latin America has remained unchanged.
