Ezra Pound's involvement with Confucianism can be phased into three stages: his early appreciation of Confucianism, his strong belief in Confucianism, and his eternal gratitude to Confucius for saving his life. Pound is a real Confucian disciple and he has established his own Confucianism in the West. Pound's adoration for Confucianism runs through his unsmooth life. He pursues the political ideals of Li Yue Ren He and considers Confucianism as an effective medicine to cure Western diseases. Therefore, he calls out "Immediate need for Confucius" in the West. To study Pound's involvement with Confucianism contributes to the study of Pound's Confucianism and also conduces to the return of Confucian traditions in modern China.
