英汉副词对比研究

A Contrastive Study on English and Chinese Adverbs

副词是英汉语中的一种重要词类。英语副词的语法功能较多,接近实词,汉语副词语法功能相对较少,介于实词和虚词之间。总的来说,英语副词的词类地位高于汉语副词,但这并不影响它们之间的对比研究。通过对比发现,英汉副词在分类方法、构词方式、语法功能、副名关系等方面既有共性又有个性,个性大于共性,造成差异的主要原因在于英汉语属于两种独立的语言系统及英汉民族的人们具有不同的概念化方式。对比英汉副词的异同既有利于外语教学和英汉翻译,又有利于跨文化交际。

Adverb is a kind of important part of speech both in English and Chinese.Although the word-class and grammatical function status of English adverbs which are closer to content words is higher than that of their Chinese counterparts,a contrastive study can still be made between them. They share many similarities but display greater differences in the aspects of classification, word-building,syntactic function,and Adv-N relationship.The main reasons for the differences lies in that English and Chinese belong to two kinds of independent language systems and that English and Chinese people have different ways of conceptualization.A contrastive study on the similarities and differences between English and Chinese adverbs is not only helpful to foreign language teaching and translation, but also beneficial to intercultural communication.
