江少川教授认为,新移民作家前半部在中国生长,后半部生活在异域,他们具有双重生活经验,两种文化背景,又具备双语能力,这就决定了他们的写作与原乡、异乡的文化不可分割,相互连通,同时又具有不同于它们的独有特质:如边缘性、跨域性、动态性等。30多万字的《海外华裔作家访谈录》几乎囊括了目前在文坛上最具影响力的海外新移民作家。

Professor Jiang Shaochuan is of the opinion that because writers as new migrants have spent the first part of their lives living in China and the second half in a foreign country they have acquired a double living experience, two different cultural backgrounds and are bilingual, which is a deciding factor that their writings are interconnected with the culture of their Yuanxiang（original homeland ）, both inseparable from it and from that of Yixiang（foreign land ）, remaining at the same time uniquely different in their marginality, cross-regional eharactersities and dynamics. A Collection of Interviews with Overseas Writers of Chinese Origins, of 300,000 words, includes almost all the most influential overseas writers from a new migrant background in the literary world.
