Swallows Fly,Grief Not Ended——on the Formaton of Wang Yuezhi's Artistic Style

王悦之是二十世纪二三十年代中国画坛享誉一时的艺术家,与当时的京华、杭州的画家圈皆有交集。就是这么一个多才多艺又兼备爱国情怀的艺术家在美术史上却未被学者们放到一个应有的高度,究其原因多与当时动荡的历史背景有关。王悦之的艺术风格,从早期明快直率的画风到中晚期忧郁稳重的风格,每一个时期风格的变化都不难看出其积极探索自我独特的艺术轨迹。

Wang Yue-zhi,known as Liu Jin-tang,was a well-known artist in Chinese painting in the 20s and 30s in the 20th century,intersecting with the painters from Beijing and Hangzhou. However,he was not in a proper height by scholars,the reason of which is related with the historical background of the comtemporary turbulence,Wang＇s artistic styles changed with the time,from the early lively and forthright painting to the late depressing and prudent,showing he ini-tiatively sought his unique artistic path.
