Talking about Wordsworth, scholars at home would rather connect him with the forerunner of British romantic poetry. And yet, they may have often ignored some hidden important driving forces that rendered him a romantic poet, that is, how he come to be a traitor against Necessity he believed earnestly. The present paper holds the point of view that it was the essential ideas of French revolution that made him a necessity believer, and nevertheless, some non--rationally horrible violence later forced him to give up Necessity before his entering the real peaceful nature. The changing traces of his thought are clearly revealed in his famous poem The Prelude .
