在中国现代文学史上有很多作家都从事过编辑工作,对其进行探讨是很有意义的。蒋成德的《中国现代作家型编辑家研究》一书作了十分可贵的探索。该书选题有着较高的学术价值。这个选题相当重要,因而自20世纪中期以来,就不断有人探讨这个问题,但像蒋成德这样将中国现代文学史上重要作家的编辑工作合在一起进行系统研究的还不多见。该书的特点首先是体例安排的对比性。著者将12位现代作家的编辑工作放在一个系列中加以研究,很自然地就让这些作家构成了对比。其次是写作态度的严谨性。著者在写作中往往用作家自己的观点论述问题,以材料证明观点,有理有据,证据充分。最后是研究角度的独特性。著者从"编辑"这一小视角,对中国现代文学史上有代表性的12位著名作家进行系列研究,这种交叉融合性的研究,显得非常独特。

It is meaningful to study the writers in the history of Chinese modem literature who have engaged in editorial work. Study on Chinese Modem Writer-Editors by Mr. Jiang Chengde has made a very precious research and it has a great academic value. The topic involved in the monograph has been constantly touched by scholars since the middle of 20th century. However, except Jiang Chengde, few of them have made a systematic research on both the writers and their editorial work. The book has three characteristics. First, it is structured by a eontrastive style. The author has studied the editorial work of 12 modem writers in a series which makes a clear contrast. Second, it is rigorous in writing attitude. Mr. Jiang justifies his own viewpoints by employing both facts and the writers＇ own opinions and exposition, which makes his arguments persuasive. Third, it is unique in the study perspective. The book makes a systematic study on 12 representative and famous writers in the history of Chinese modem literature from the perspective of ＂editors＂. This overlapped and integrated study is very special.
