The Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missile （AMRAAM） developed by the UnitedStates is a fielded radar-guided air-to-air missile with multiple advanced capabilities and most productiondeliveries in the world today. This paper describes the AMRAAM＇ s operational requirements, design con-figuration, development process, test and evaluation, and upgrades and variants; introduces its produc-tion and deployment as well as performance in the actual combats; sorts out problems encountered in theprocess of its development, production and use; summarizes experiences and lessons in its program man-agement; presents what we can learn from AMRAAM＇ s serial development and continuous improvement.
