An Exploration of Evolution and Character of Lao Zi's Taoism and its Interpretative Methodology

解读老子应取逻辑与历史统一,天人合一与内圣外王一体两面的视角与方法,既注意中西哲学之共同性,又注意中国哲学的特殊性。还须注意《老子》文本以诗与格言形式出现,不能单采训诂与推理、演绎的方法,而要采取多视角、多方向的解读。

To properly interpret Taoism, enough concern should be shown both with similarities between Chinese and Western philosophies and with characteristics of Chinese philosophy. Moreover proper consideration should be made in terms of integrity between logic and history and association between unity of heaven and man and ethical politics. Since the text of Lao Zi occurs in form of poetry and maxim, interpretation of it should be done not merely by means of lexical explanation, inference or deduction but from a multi-perspective and multi- angle view.
