摘要
美国作家赛珍珠以《大地》等中国题材小说获得了1938年的诺贝尔文学奖,在以"中国小说"为题的授奖演说中,赛珍珠系统论述了自己小说创作的"中国经验":"为了让平民高兴"的写作观念、"故事的天才之水"的叙事风格、"人物高于一切"的形象塑造。这些"中国经验"构成了赛珍珠小说创作的重要精神资源与艺术储备,并在作品中以多种审美样态呈现出来。赛珍珠的"中国经验"与莫言等中国本土作家的"中国经验"同中有异,互为参照,相映成趣,共同成就了中国小说异彩纷呈的艺术表现。
American Pearl Buck won the Nobel Prize for literature for her novel The Good Earth with Chinese subject matter and in her speech entitled "The Chinese Novel", she systematically ex- pounds her "Chinese experiences" in her novel writing: writing concept "in order to please the civil- ian", narrative style of "Gifted waterflow of the story", and the characterization of the "superiority of characters". These "Chinese experience" is the main spiritual resource of her writing and artistic res- ervation, and reflected in various aesthetic form in her works. The "Chinese experience" of Pearl Buck is similar to that of the Chinese writers such as MO Yah with differences and references. It contributes to the variety of artistic expression in Chinese novels.
