永生即厌倦——论B.威廉斯的永生观

Bernard Williams' Theory of Immortality

B.威廉斯在其论文《马克洛普罗事件:对永生之厌倦的反思》中认为,永生是没有意义的。威廉斯指出死亡与有死是不同的,若永生则厌倦;只有满足同一性与吸引力两个条件,永生才不会无聊。尽管威廉斯的理论遭到一些学者的反驳,但本文通过分析得出,威廉斯的这一理论是深刻而富有洞见的。当然他的理论也不是无懈可击的,其同一性条件太严又太宽,但无论如何也不影响永生导致无聊的判断,因为破除对永生的期待,才可让有限的生命更有意义。

In The Makropulos Case:Reflection on the Tedium of Immortality,Bernard Williams argues that the immorality is meaningless.Immorality is different from death and brings out tedium.People can live meaningfully,if they can settle for identity and attractive force.Although he may be somehow questionable,his viewpoint is profound and insightful.This article points out that there's still something to be improved,but his judgment is worthy of recognition.Only losing hope for immorality limited life is more meaningful.
