The virtual reference service can effectively expand the scope of library information service, and conform to users＇ information acquisition mode in network environment, so, carrying out the local literature based information reference service on the basis of virtual reference platform is an inevitable trend. This paper expounds the concept of virtual reference service, analyzes the relationship and differences between the virtual reference service and the traditional reference service, and probes into the strategies for doing well the virtual reference service based on the local literature.
