The development of opera in the Qing dynasty reached a new stage. From the perspective of art, this period saw the emergence of many monographs and outstanding literary works of Kunqu opera, the extensiveness of local opera surpassed any previous period, and Peking opera became popular throughout the country since its formation and had systematic theories about the opera performance and creation.
