Through the tragedy of Leonard Bast,the British writer E. M. Forsterˊs Howards End shows the sharp class conflicts of society and reveals the differences and same nature within the middle class. It reflects deeply on the uni-versal humanity and eternal values of liberal humanism which can neither bridge the class divisions nor make the real〝connection〝 because of its utopian nature.
