Enlightenment from the Three Stages to the True Understanding of Buddhist Chan

文章以禅宗的"见山是山,见水是水/见山不是山,见水不是水/见山只是山,见水只是水"的参禅三境界为由头,纵论中外翻译研究史上的相关问题,讨论造成当前"看翻译不是翻译"的第二境界的三种原因,探讨如何走向"看翻译还是翻译"的第三重境界。

This paper starts with the famous Buddhist metaphor of ＂three stages to the true understanding of chan＂, namely, at the first stage, mountains and rivers were seen as they were; at the second stage, they were not like themselves; and at the third stage, they were seen as mountains and rives again. Then, with the metaphor as a reference, it goes to talk profoundly about the history of translation and translation studies both in China and in the west, and discusses the reasons why the present translation study still remains in the second stage of ＂translation unlike translation＂, and how to find a way out to reach the third stage.
