摘要
本研究基于功能学派翻译目的论义理,力图给予和揭示同一《孟子》精神本体构式何以被表征为多样化的成因,并运用例证式研究手段,从语言和文化两个维度对《孟子》所选的三个英译本—理雅各、大中华文库版和刘殿爵译本进行对比分析,论证了译者在不同翻译目的和对目标读者期待关怀的驱使下,在翻译实践中会采取相应的翻译方法和策略,因而造成上述现象的出现和译文表征与意义的差异。
This paper tries to reveal why the same spiritual noumenon of Meng Zi was expressed in diverse schemas in different translated versions. Citing cases chosen from three versions, the paper analyzes and demonstrates the differences in translation strategies and approaches by different translators whose skopos and readers＇ expectations were far from the same, which explains the inevitability of the diversity of their presentations linguistically and otherwise.
