《大中华文库》国人英译本海外接受状况调查——以《孙子兵法》为例

On the Overseas Reception of Lin Wusun's English Version of The Art of War

鉴于目前《大中华文库》国人英译典籍在西方的接受状况缺乏研究的现状,文章从全球馆藏情况、焦点小组读者调查以及公开发表的评论文章三个方面对《孙子兵法》的林戊荪译本在译入语中接受情况进行调查。调查结果表明:林译本接受状况不佳,但目前看来主要原因不在于译本的可接受度,而在于译本的流通量、保有量小,关注度不高;事实上,在一定条件下国人所译典籍拥有大量潜在读者。

In view of the absence of authentic investigation concerning the overseas reception of the English versions of Chinese clas- sics rendered by Chinese translators, this paper takes The Art of War translated by Lin Wusun as an example and probes into the facts of its reception in the target culture from three aspects： library holdings, a focused group survey on readership and published reviews. The results show that the reception of Lin＇ s version is unsatisfving due to its small preservation at libraries and lack of recognition a- mong readers. And it is safe to say that Chinese classics translated by Chinese scholars will have a larger readership if they are made more accessible through effective channels.
