中医药治疗肝功能衰竭及其各种并发证方面有肯定的疗效,而大黄为主保留灌肠疗法具有独特的优势。大黄能抑制肠道病原微生物,消除内毒素。中药灌肠使药物直接经直肠静脉和直肠下静脉进行大循环,减轻了肝脏负担。对于传统灌肠只能达到直肠或乙状结肠的缺点,近年来研制的结肠灌注透析治疗机能进行全结肠清洗,排出宿粪,洁净肠道,为中药保留灌肠准备了一个较洁净的肠道环境,然后再用大黄为主保留灌肠,实为一种较好的思路。

Chinese medicine has definite curative effects on hepatic failure and its various complications, and the primary use of Dahuang （Radix et Rhizoma Rhei） in retention enema has unique advantages. Dahuang （Radix et Rhizoma Rhei ） can inhibit en- teropatbogenic microorganisms and eliminate the endotoxin. The Chinese herbs used for enema directly participated in the general eirculation through rectal vein and inferior rectal vein, and thus lessened the burden of the liver. For the shortage of the traditional enema which can only reach the rectum and sigmoid colon,the colon affusion dialysis treatment machine developed in recent years can cleanse the whole intestine, evacuate the feces,clean the intestinal tract,and thus provide a relatively clean intestinal environ- ment for the retention enema of Chinese herbs. After that,Dahuang （ Radix et Rhizoma Rhei） was used primarily in the retention enema. All the above is quiet a good train of thought.
