Decline of the Traditional Filial Piety and Change of the Farmers' Pension Ideas

现代经济社会的发展使统孝道在中国农民养老问题上发挥的作用已日趋式微,建立平等、民主的亲子关系家庭势在必行。在此前提下,农民自身应正视现实,尽快变革传统养老观念,给予女儿平等的财产分配与继承权;尽早为养老做好经济准备;养老主要依靠自己的子女。唯有作出理性思考,才能顺应时代发展潮流,也才能在现有社会保障制度不完善的条件下尽可能地解决好农民的养老问题。

The role of traditional filial piety on Chinese farmers＇ pension has been declining with the development of economy and society. It＇ s imperative to establish a parent - child relationship of equality and democracy. Under this premise, the farmers should face it and change the traditiona/pension ideas as soon as possible. For example, they should give daughters equal rights on distribu- tion and inheritance of property and prepare good economy for pension as early as possible and rely on their own. Only after the rational thinking, the farmers can follow the trend of the times and solve their pension problem as good as possible under this imperfect social security system.
