The World Bank's teacher education policy has experienced five stages of evolution. Now the World Bank focuses on teacher qualification accreditation, initial teacher education curriculum, teacher recruit- ment, teacher training, and teacher professional development. The World Bank had a major impact on teacher education policy in the developing countries, but there are also some deviations and problems, such as excessive attention to teacher training, intervention to other countries' teacher education policy development and too much emphasis on teacher education to serve economic development.
