Reflections on Professor Pan Wenguo's Studies on Translation

本文以潘文国先生在翻译方面的相关论著为基础,结合其翻译实践,对其翻译研究进行了概括和述评,将他的翻译研究总结为三个特点:借历史作鉴,通古今之变,开中外之路;以哲学为基,跨学科之藩篱,闪实践之光辉;从汉语出发,以文化为本,立中国译论之言。这三者并非孤立存在,而是相互交织,共同形成了他的翻译研究的特色,对我国的译论建设具有宏观性的指导意义。

The paper, on the basis of the related works on translation studies by Professor Pan Wenguo and in combination with his translation practices, provides a brief account and commentary review on his studies in this field, which are summarized into three characteristics： obtaining enlightenments from history, connecting the past with the present and carving out the way for Chi- na and the abroad; based on philosophy, crossing the disciplinary boundaries and sparkling the brilliance of practice; and start- ing from Chinese, being culture-rooted and establishing Chinese translation theory. They do not exist in isolation, but are closely interwoven. They constitute＇ the distinguishing features of his studies on translation and have macroscopic guidance for the con- struction of Chinese translation theories.
