A New Art Theory of Bajin's Novelettes

从《灭亡》开始,巴金中篇小说就对中国文学释愤抒情的传统作了继承和弘扬。巴金中篇小说长于人物精神世界刻画,着力描写青年人的反抗和斗争,善于营造情感氛围,使小说在结构艺术、人物塑造、语言艺术等方面形成特点及有了创新。《憩园》的艺术手法更臻于娴熟,表现在:主题深刻而独到;环境描写诗意盎然,生活体验蕴蓄表达;采用视角转换、复调的手法,使叙事结构细致绵密。

Since the Demise, Bajin inherited and enriched the tradition of Chinese literary which expresses an- ger and passion. His novelettes portrayed the spiritual world of characters, strived to describe the rebellions and struggles of youth, and were adept at creating emotional atmosphere, all of which established unique fea- tures and innovations in their literary structures, characterization, language arts, etc. His artistry grew into maturity in Qi Yuan in terms of the profound and unique theme, the poetic descriptions of circumstances, the implicit expression of life experiences and the compact narrative struture induced by the use of perspective transformation and polyphonic approach.
