Functional Translation of Quanzhou Tourism Material

从功能理论特别是翻译的目的论角度探讨泉州市旅游信息的中文文本翻译成英文文本所采用的策略。泉州市旅游文本是典型的以呼吁读者采取行动为目的的呼吁性文本,旨在吸引游客并且传播泉州文化,在翻译过程中需要以这两大目的为中心灵活选择策略,包括汉语短句的短语化处理、段落为翻译单位、翻译转移和文化信息的说明,使泉州的旅游资源在更广阔的范围产生影响。

This paper aims to explore the strategies to convey tourism material of Quanzhou between Chinese and English under the guidance of functional theory, especially Skopostheorie~ The purpose of Quanzhou tourism texts is to attract tourists and spread culture of Quanzhou, the former being the main purpose while the latter affiliated to it. According to these two purposes, these strategies should be adopted, including translating Chinese phrases to short sentences, adopting paragraphs as translation units, transferring translation and expla- nation of cultural information.
