湖南的出版事业源远流长,正式开始刊刻图书的可靠年代是宋代。历经宋、元、明、清、民国,湖南的出版事业留下了较为丰富的史料,对湖南近代乃至古代出版史料的搜集整理是很有必要的。20世纪八九十年代的《湖南出版史料》及相关书籍注重革命史料的发掘、整理,同时对晚清民国时期的官方和民间出版史料也有关注。2010年代,《湖湘文库》中有10余种关涉湖南出版史料的文献,这些大部头的著作极为注重第一手资料的搜集整理,搜罗范围从古代湖南的刻书业至近代湖南的出版业、印刷业、发行业,史料价值极高。这些史料为综合性的大型区域出版史的编写与当今的出版实践提供了重要的资源。

Hunan has a long history of publishing, it is reliable that the ceremonial era of publishing is the Song Dynasty. After the Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasty, Hunan Publishing left a wealth of historical data, it is necessary to callect the modern and ancient Hunan publication historical data. Hunan Province Publication Chronicles which publishied in the 1980s and 1990s and related books focus on the revolutionary historical data＇ s excavation, consolidation, while pay attention to the official and private publishing historical data during the late Qing Dynasty and Republic of China. 2010s, there are more than 10 species concerned Hunan Publishing historical data in the Hu Xiang Library. These voluminous books pay more attention to the firsthand information＇ collection, collecting range from book carving in ancient Hunan to modern Hunan publishing, printing, distribution, so these voluminous books have very high value. Above-mentioned books provide important resources for large chronicles＇ compilation and publishing practice nowadays.
