Yangzhou, a city in eastern China＇s Jiangsu Province, has a history of more than 2,500 years. Yangzhou was a major rice. salt and silk trading center in ancient times. Marco Polo served as a commissioner of salt revenue, for three years, under the government of the Ming Dynasty （1368-1644） during the late 13th century. It is best to visit Yangzhou during March and April, when the weather is the most pleasant.
