城市设计业已成为吸引人才、增强城市竞争力、实现可持续发展的重要手段。改革开放以后,上海率先引入城市设计,为城市发展与建设活动提供了有力支撑,并在城市设计管理实践方面进行了积极探索。在中国当前大力推进新型城镇化的关键时期,在上海"四个中心"和现代化国际大都市发展的重要阶段,有必要进一步提升对城市设计的理解和认识,结合上海城市设计工作面临的挑战,聚焦以人为本和品质导向,在规划体系中加强城市设计的空间引领作用,传承传统文化,塑造城市风貌,以设计改变生活,将上海打造成为设计之都与魅力之城。

Urban design has become an important means to attract talents, enhance the city competitiveness and realize sustainable development. After the reform and opening up, Shanghai has taken the lead in the introduction of city design, providing support for the city development and construction activities. At the same time, positive exploration in city design management has been carried out. In China, the new urbanization is vigorously promoted currently, and it is an important stage for Shanghai to construct the“Four Centre”and to develop a modern metropolis, so that it is necessary to further enhance the understanding of urban design. Combined with urban design challenges that Shanghai is facing, the quality orientation should be focused, the urban design should be strengthened in the space planning system, the traditional culture should be inherited, the city image should be constructed and the urban life should be changed by design, which will make Shanghai to the city of design and charm.
