摘要
本文从水的形态、特质简要阐述了水在山水园林中的重要作用，并通过系统地整理分析，对中西方园林理水艺术进行了比较，对两者各自的艺术风格和特点进行了论述，探讨了东西方在园林理水艺术手法上融合创新的可能，以及园林理水艺术在未来的发展。
The author briefly expounded the important role of water in landscape gardens from the morphology and charac-teristics of water. Through the systematical analysis of land co-nsolidation, the author compared the water layout art between Chinese and western garden, and discussed the artistic style and their respective characteristics. This paper also discussed the possibility of innovated integration of the two water arts and the development of water layout art in the future.
