The Industrial Activities of the National Government Resources Committee in Hunan during the Anti-Japanese War

抗战时期,国民政府资委会在湖南开展了筹建工业和开发矿业等一系列活动,湖南工矿业得到空前的发展,机器、五金、电力等工业以及煤、锑、锡、汞等矿业得以开发,形成了以衡阳为中心的轻工业区和以沅陵、辰溪为中心的重工业区,这在一定程度上促进湖南工矿业的合理布局和平衡发展。

During the Anti -Japanese War, Under the National Government Resources Committee ’s instruction, there were a series of industry construction activities which mainly included constructing heavy industries in Hunan and exploiting Hunan characterized minerals. Thus, during the period of Anti Japanese War, the mining industry has been unprecedentedly developed, meanwhile machine, ironware, power generation, coal, tin, antimony, mercury had been well exploited which made a great influence on the forming of the light industrial district centered in Hengyang and the heavy industrial district centered in Yuanling and Chenxi. All in all, to a certain extent, those developments had facilitated the reasonable industrial layout and balance development in Hunan.
