The Concept of “Southwest Area” in the Perspective of Regional Politics during the Early Republic of China

民初的"西南"概念是在军阀政治形态下形成的地域政治概念,它的频繁使用肇始于民初护法运动,体现出鲜明的政治话语性。在政治地域化的态势下,这一概念形成以"西南六省"为主体范围的区域性表达。"西南六省"说也成为具有代表性和广泛认同的区域认识。因此,民初的"西南"既是如学界强调的政治概念,也是受政治态势影响而存在于特定历史时期的地理概念。这充分体现了西南区域观在历史发展中逐渐演变的空间过程。

The concept of ;＇Southwest Area＂, a concept of regional politics, was formed under the morphology of Warlord Politics. Its wide use dated back to the early Constitution Protection Movement, reflecting its political discourse. The concept which was a regional expression, regarded the ＂Six Southwest Provinces＂ as the main range under the situation of political localization and this version became a representative and widely accepted regional knowledge. Therefore, the concept of ＂Southwest Area＂ during the early Republic of China is a political concept as it is emphasized in the academic field, as well as a geographical concept influenced by the political situation and existing in a specific historical period. This fully embodies the gradual evolution of special process of the southwest regional concept in history.
