On Characteristics of Auspicious Signs and Calamities in the Kingdom of the Northern Wei,the Dynasty of the West and East Jin,and the Southern and Northern Dynasty

魏晋南北朝时期是一个社会大动荡的时期,也是一个祥瑞灾异发展的高峰期,祥瑞灾异也呈现出与其它时代不同的特点。祥瑞灾异多、祥瑞灾异泛化及出现有关佛教、道教的现象是这一时期祥瑞灾异的显著特点。汉代天人感应思想的延续、祥瑞灾异特有的政治功用以及玄学、佛教、道教的发展为这一时期祥瑞灾异兴盛的主要原因。

Dynasties of the Northern Wei,the West and East Jin,and the Southern and Northern are a great social upheaval period and also a peak at which auspicious signs and calamities consequently took place. These auspicious signs and calamities are different from those of other times and characterize themselves with great number and high frequency and with coexisting with the Buddhism and the Taoism. The causes of them include the lasting of the idea of heaven-human induction of the Han Dynasty,the political functions of auspicious signs and calamities,and the development of the Metaphysics,the Buddhism,and the Taoism.
