摘要
张载以气为万物之本。所谓万物,并非器物,而是生物。故,气乃是具有生命的万物之本。万物因之而生,无之而亡,类似于西方的soul(灵魂、精神)。气无形体,因此是形而上的太虚。太虚非真空,而是实在的气。
Zhangzai＇s Qi refers to the foundation of every matter. And the matter,in ancient China designated no other than living matter. Qi is the foundation of every living beings,with which all living beings live and without which,no living being is able to perish. Qi is the dependence of living being. It matches with the western term of soul which is able to animates animals.
