西方文化中的“桃花源”

The Western Counterparts of “Peach Blossom Spring”

自从《桃花源记并诗》问世以来,"桃花源"便成为人们心目中理想社会的代名词。在西方文化中,也存在着类似"桃花源"的完美社会的意象,如"阿卡狄亚"、"仙那度"、"香格里拉"等。这三个类似"桃花源"的意象与中国的"桃花源"相比,内涵各有不同。鉴于此,"桃花源"一词的英语翻译不应借用这三个意象,致使产生理解偏差,从而不利于"桃花源"文化的传播。

Since A Narrative and a Poem of Peach Blossom Spring came out, ＂Peach Blossom Spring＂ has become the word for an ideal society. In the west, there are three similar images Arcadia, Xanadu and Shangri - La. Compared to the Chinese ＂Peach Blossom Spring,＂ these three images have different connotations. Given the differences, we need to use the literal translation of ＂Peach Blossom Spring＂ instead of borrowing the three above - mentioned images which may bring misunderstanding and thus negative effects to the transmission of the ＂Peach Blossom Spring＂ culture.
